Solo

Aver had his very first judged performance as a part of the Solo and Ensemble event at BHS. I have always seen kids get incredibly nervous for the event over the past 20 years I’ve been at the school, so it was interesting to see Aver approach it so calmly. I like that about him. At the same time, he was the most underdressed kid at the whole event, which did phase him a bit.

His timpani solo was outstanding. The judge enjoyed it and gave him some criticism, which he took very well. Afterward, he found out he got an “Excellent” rating, which really made him feel happy. He was a few points short of “Superior”, but he didn’t really practice either, so that was a good day, all things considered.
