CIS Introduction to Public Speaking

I haven’t made a post about teaching my first CIS class, and that’s really crazy considering how much of my professional life has been dedicated to developing this class along with a great colleague.

However, as I approach the end of the first quarter and my students prepare for the first big speeches, I’ve been reflecting on how that classroom community has grown and developed over the last two months.

The group started out quiet and spookily obedient. Now, they are relaxed and really like each other and I’m getting to see their personalities as they strive to become outstanding public speakers.

I’ve been grateful for this new challenge. It’s taking the place of the yearbook this year for me, so it’s a huge change of pace, but I’m having a lot of fun now.
