CrapCam saves the day

Every five school years, teachers in Minnesota need to renew their licenses. The process involves going through 125 hours of additional training in a variety of areas. I am up for renewal this year, and I was imagining the process of collecting certificates, organizing events, and writing detailed reflections on experiences. I floated the idea of using detailed posts from this blog as evidence and reflections for this process. It turns out that posts with detailed summaries of my continuing educational experience – including conferences attended, workshops facilitated, keynote speeches, and important reading related to education – all could count toward hours.

So, although my license doesn’t need to be renewed until June, I suddenly had more than enough hours to complete the process six months early and start earning hours toward the next time.

To make my posts more readable, I made a design change to the blog by choosing a darker font for the text of the posts and the title of the blog. I sort of like the new look. I don’t miss the light gray text and light blue header yet. I think I’ll keep it this way for a while. I still need to find out why the header images are little wonky.

I felt very fortunate to have so many experiences documented here and I was thankful to my past self for keeping such good reflections on events. It made me glad to have renewed my commitment to finding meaning in my life through this blog.
